Introduced in 1992 in the Ironman watch line, the Indiglo electroluminescent lamps uniformly light the watch dials, making them easy to read in various light settings. Some newer watches feature Indiglo backlighting that only illuminates the numbers, achieved through a specialized film that inverts the LCD transmissivity.
